COR IESU Retreats
COR IESU Retreats
We lead and help facilitate retreats in Baltimore, MD and around the United States for seminarians in the propaedeutic, discipleship, and configuration stages of priestly formation.
During a COR IESU Retreat, seminarians attend spiritual conferences, chant the Liturgy of the Hours, participate in daily Mass, spend time in Eucharistic Adoration, receive spiritual direction from Dominican friars, enjoy meals and fraternity with the priests and friends of COR IESU, and encounter the Heart of Jesus anew.
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gently and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” (Mt 11:28-30).
COR IESU RETREATS
at a glance…
At the invitation of individual seminaries and/or dioceses, The COR IESU Project can lead and help facilitate the following:
-
The schedule of a “day of recollection” can vary, depending on the desires of the seminary or diocese. However, we recommend having no more than two or three conferences (e.g., the evening prior, morning of, and afternoon of) to allow extended opportunities for silent prayer and spiritual direction.
For a day of recollection, two Dominican friars will be in attendance (one as the preacher, the other as the chaplain).
-
A “weekend-long retreat” includes four spiritual conferences on a particular theme or aspect of the priesthood.
Ideally, this three-day event would occur on a weekend. With that said, we can tailor this retreat to the needs and desires of a seminary or diocese (e.g., holding the retreat in the middle of the week).
For a weekend-long retreat, two Dominican friars will be in attendance (one as the preacher, the other as the chaplain).
Recommended Schedule:
An evening conference, immediately followed by a Eucharistic Holy Hour, sets the tone of the retreat on Friday evening.
Saturday is intentionally conference-heavy, with the second talk scheduled for the morning and the final two talks planned for the afternoon. After dinner, a Eucharistic Holy Hour precedes an evening social with the priests and friends of COR IESU.
On Sunday, a discussion about the theme of the retreat (with Q&A) is led by the priests of COR IESU before the celebration of the closing Mass.
N.B. Confessions will be offered throughout the weekend.
-
A “week-long retreat” is comprised of eight total conferences (one conference per day) on a particular theme or aspect of the priesthood. It also includes daily spiritual direction with a priest of COR IESU.
